One nice, small driving road in Southern Finland is the Karstu Road (Karstuntie in Finnish). The Karstu road (road number 1070) starts from the centre of town of Lohja and as the name suggests, it goes by the small place of Karstu. The road ends near Sammatti, from where you can continue north towards Helsinki-Turku highway or take another small road towards south. The Kartsu road is a small road with lots of nice, tight curves. Considering that you are driving in the Southern Finland, Karstu Road also has some small, but surprisingly steep hills.
The traffic is fairly slow as the road is mostly used by the locals. However, the road is quite narrow and there are also many surprisingly tight curves. Most of the road there is a 60 km/h speed limit, which is quite enough on this curvy road. The pavement was in good condition, so it suits well for a sports car or a motorcycle also.
We drove the Karstu Road with the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Powered by a 3.8-litre V6, the Genesis Coupe has 303 horsepower, which are more than enough on this curvy road. On a road like this, a manual gearbox would be the first choice, but automatic transmission works as well. There is also a possibility to change gears yourself in a manual mode. The suspension in Hyundai Genesis Coupe feels quite comfortable on a journey, but it also works quite nicely on this small curvy road. Unfortunately the steering doesn’t feel just as good. It’s not as accurate as you would hope for in a sporty coupe and it also lacks feedback. It’s not a big problem, but with more accurate steering, it would have been even more fun.
